Homeowner Rehabilitation
City and county governments may apply once a year for up to $400,000 to operate a Homeowner Rehabilitation program. Because they have their own HOME funds, Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City and Johnson County are not eligible.
The current program description and application for funding are available on KHRC’s website click here. The application deadline is June 30. Please contact the Homeowner Rehabilitation Program Manager with questions.
Applicant communities must be able to manage a housing program involving construction and rehabilitation of existing homes. Some communities contract with non-profit or for-profit grant administrators for part or all of these services. KHRC may be able to help you identify potential grant administrators.
This program is funded through HUD’s HOME Program. Grant recipients must ensure compliance with all requirements of that program, (at 24 CFR Part 92), as well as applicable state and local requirements. Projects are subject to environmental requirements including those related to lead-based paint.
