What the Program Does: The Kansas Energy Efficiency Program (KEEP) provides interest free loans to qualified Kansas homeowners to make improvements to their homes to increase energy efficiency. The interest free rate on KHRC funds translates into a lower blended rate than obtained through a normal second mortgage loan. KEEP has no income restrictions. KHRC funds half of the loaned amount, up to a maximum of $10,000. Total loan amounts could be higher as determined by Sunflower.

Who the Program Helps: Resident Kansas homeowners.

How It Works: Interested applicants apply directly to the lender, Sunflower Bank www.sunflowerbank.com. The lender assists the applicant in completing the required paperwork to apply for KEEP.

 Type(s) of Assistance: Low-interest loans.

Additional Information: Your improvements may give you other benefits on your tax return. The treasury and IRS provide guidance for energy credits for homeowners, which can be found on the IRS website.

Funding Cycle: Applications received beginning November 2006, continues as funding is available.

Eligible Entities: Individuals apply through Sunflower Bank at www.sunflowerbank.com.
